CRDI Researcher Jebelli and CRDI Director Miller receives grant on construction robotics training

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As the use of robots in the construction industry becomes more common, there is a need for those working or who plan to work in the industry — including students in the Penn State Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) program — to be well-versed in highly technical work environments. Houtan Jebelli, assistant professor of architectural engineering and director of the Robotic, Automation, and Intelligent Sensing (RAISe) Lab at Penn State, plans to make sure that all Penn State CEM students are equipped with the competencies required for working alongside construction robots.

CRDI Assoc. Director Jessica Menold wins OSAFR YIP Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three College of Engineering faculty received awards from the 2023 Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Young Investigator Research Program (YIP). Jessica Menold, Hartz Family Career Development Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering Design and Innovation and the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Joseph Najem, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; and Xiang Yang, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, each received a three-year $450,000 research grant.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The National Science Foundation has awarded Penn State $1.5 million as one of eight universities selected to participate in the Mid-Atlantic NSF I-Corps Hub, led by the University of Maryland. This funding will enable Penn State to expand entrepreneurial training to academic researchers in science and engineering to foster and maintain U.S. global leadership in innovation.
